Ken Hunt Award, West Virginia high school lineman of the year
The Hunt Award is named in honor of Ken Hunt, who coached at Beckley's Woodrow
Wilson High and Richwood High. It was founded in 1959 by the Beckley Elks Lodge &
the Richwood Lions Club, two well known service organizations.
The "Ken Hunt" Award winner is selected by the All-State Football Committee of the
West Virginia Sports Writers Association. The winner gets a plaque and the school
is presented with the five-foot high trophy which is transferred from school to school
each year.
Only 2 high schools have ever kept the trophy 2 years in a row Parkersburg has done it twice in
1976-1977 and 2006-2007 and Capital in 1989-1990.
